Rub-a-dub

The only thing I like more than taking a bath is taking a bath with my big brother.

I'm 8 Months Old!

Do I look bigger to you?  Mommy is pretty sure I grew 6 inches in the past 2 weeks.  That's probably not true, but since my last post I have grown two teeth!  They're front and center on the bottom.  It hurt a little bit when they came in, but I hardly complained at all.  Just drooled a lot and used my new-found talent of grabbing things with both hands to shove whatever was within reach into my mouth, including but not limited to my feet and Mommy's cell phone.  I really enjoy bath time.  I like to kick my legs and make the water go all wiggly.  I also like to lay on my back, but I'm finding that it's fun to roll onto my tummy too!  For a minute.  Once I remember that I can't roll back onto my back all by myself I get kind of angry.  I'm eating all sorts of fruits and vegetables now, as well as lots of different cereal grains.  I've even tried chicken!  So far there's no sign of the diarrhea that I had when I was drinking Mommy's milk.  One day soon she'll get up the gumption to pull some out of the freezer and see if it agrees with me or not.  I sure do love my brother Gavin.  If he smiles, I smile.  If he laughs, I laugh.  If he cries, I cry.  He likes to jump over me when I'm laying on the floor.  I think it's hilarious, but Mommy and Daddy aren't as impressed.

I heart visitors.

Last weekend I got to meet a new friend.  Her name is Jane and she's from Texas and she seemed to like me a lot.  I liked her, too!  She held me on her lap for a really long time when we were outside, and when it was time for me to go to be, she gave me my bottle and lay me down to sleep.  She came here with Sean and Emily.  I've met them before, but only briefly.  This time we got to know each other a little better and I even got PRESENTS from them!  Emily embroidered this sweet bib for me and she also gave me a pair of stunning black and pink Mary Janes.

Pete and Gloria came for a visit that same day.  I met P& G the previous weekend in Apple Valley, but I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to post about it!  Here are a couple of pictures from that weekend, taken with Pete's camera because Mommy forgot to bring ours:

Holding My Own

Kim (my good friend and day care provider) has been working with me to hold my own bottle. I'm pretty good at it for the first 10 or 15 seconds, but I'm easily distracted and the bottle sometimes finds its way out of my mouth.  Luckily, someone always seems to be right there to stick it back in for me (see the picture of my thighs in the previous post for proof).

I'm 7 Months Old!

My mommy is going to have to try again tomorrow to get a good 7-month picture of me. Wouldn't you know it - the camera battery was low! Mommy took a few pictures before it died, including this one of my big brother pouting because he wasn't allowed to sit in front of me for my photo shoot.
Even without an 'official' 7-month picture, I can give you a 7-month update. You would not believe how much food I can pack away these days. My thigh rolls have rolls! My food repertoire now includes rice cereal, apples, avocados, bananas, carrots, pears, squash, and of course, good ol' hypoallergenic formula. I'm starting to be able to sit on my own for several minutes without tipping over. My favorite pastimes are playing in my jumperoo and exersaucer and watching my big brother play trains. The biggest news of all this month is that I'm starting to get my first tooth! Front and center, bottom row. It sometimes wakes me up at night, but most of the time I sleep really well.

This one is kinda blurry, but it's a pretty good representation of my thighs:

My Guys

Food, Glorious Food!

Solid food (ok, we all know it's far from solid, but it's way more solid than formula) is yummy! I've gotten really good at eating off of a spoon these past few weeks. My repertoire of foods, and of people who feed them to me, has grown tremendously in the past month. I've had applesauce, avocado, blueberries, carrots, squash, and sweet potato. I've also recently branched out from rice cereal into a multigrain mix of oats, spelt and barley (a good test of my tolerance for gluten).
