I'm 5 Months Old!

Man, am I growing fast or what?  In the past month I've really started enjoying playing with toys and my hands have found my toes!  I'm getting better and better at getting my hands to do what I want them to do.  I've also started using some new equipment: I kinda slouch in my high chair, but it's fun to be joining the rest of my family around the table at dinner time. I have a new jumperoo that I've enjoyed exploring with my eyes and hands, but I need a 'booster' underneath so my feet can touch the ground.  I'm still suffering from green-slimy-poop syndrome, which seems to bother my parents a lot more than it bothers me.  They're still pushing the bottle on me and I really don't mind it much if it's filled with yummy breast milk, but I refuse to drink that nasty hypoallergenic formula.  I still enjoy taking baths with (or without) my big brother.  He seems to be getting a little more interested in me now that he can get me to smile at him.

Grandma Debby Did It!

Grandma withstood 20 solid minutes of serious protesting on my part today because she was bound and determined to get me to take a bottle.  I really like my grandma, so I finally gave in, latched on, and drank it down.  You know, it really wasn't all that bad.  Later on in the day I even let Daddy feed me a little bit!

I don't like bottles

For as long as I can remember, Mommy and Daddy have been sticking bottles in my mouth.  I don't like bottles.  Back when they started trying to feed me from a bottle, at least the bottles had Mommy's milk in them.  Now they've got some nasty, foreign, hypoallergenic formula.  Sure, they'll tell you that I'm allergic to something in Mommy's diet (even though she's forsaken milk, soy, wheat and gluten for weeks now).  So what?  I'm still pretty happy-go-lucky and I'm still gaining weight. What's the big deal?  Besides, I heard them talking about all the things that would happen if I reliably ate from a bottle.  Something about Mommy being able to go back to work in the lab, to go snowboarding, to go out with her friends, or even under the knife to get that piece of metal out of her collarbone.  Now you tell me - why would I want her to do any of that stuff when she could keep spending all her time with me?

Happy Valentine's Day!

Will you be mine?

I like you too, but my name is Vivian. Quit calling me 'Cookie'.

Showin' off my thigh rolls.

I'm 4 Months Old!

And I'm getting so big! I don't have my 4-month checkup until tomorrow, but right now I weigh around 13 and 1/2 pounds. I've been working on building up some thigh rolls and so far I think I'm doing a good job of it. I really enjoy sitting in my Bumbo chair where I can get a better view of what's going on around me. I also really, really love the mobile above my crib. My hands have found each other and they sometimes even find my mouth. When that happens I like to suck on my knuckles. My good sleeping habits are a thing of the past. A future rock star like me needs to be able to party all night long so I've been getting up 2 or 3 times each night to visit with my mom and have a drink of milk. Speaking of drinking milk, Mommy and Daddy keep trying to get me to drink out of a bottle. Can you believe the nerve of some people? Mommy still takes me to work with her every day. Today I was a good girl and didn't do much to distract her. I even took a 2-hour nap! Some days are like that, and on other days I make sure she knows that all I want is for her to play with me.

Uinta Mountains Weekend

My family and I spent last weekend with the Schellhase family at their cabin in the Uinta Mountains. My new friend Reagan, who is 6, was very pleased to meet me. She enjoyed making me smile and in return I gave her the opportunity to learn where milk comes from.

Hanging with Grandma

Last weekend I had the pleasure of having my Grandma Debby come for a visit. She stayed with us on Saturday night and came all the way up to Beaver Mountain with us on Sunday morning. I usually get stuck in the lodge with Mommy, but this time I had a lot of fun (and a nap) because Grandma kept me company while Mommy went out in the cold with Daddy and Gavin. I'm so lucky!
